Weekly communication please read!

Coach's Gratitude-
Thank you to all of our wrestlers, stats and coaches for making Saturday a successful scrimmage.  In some ways the beginning of the year is the most difficult part of the season. We are not in shape yet, our bodies are sore, and we are making the lifestyle adjustment to being in wrestling season.  Getting the chance to wrestle someone other than a teammate can be a great way to reminder as to what we love about wrestling.

Family
Family is an important aspect of all of our lives.  On Friday I shared with our team that my father in law is currently battling cancer.  My wife, kids and myself will be leaving after practice on Wednesday to travel to southeast Pennsylvania to visit with them and be returning on Sunday.  The assistant coaches in our program will be running the scrimmage on Friday and practice on Saturday.  If any of our wrestlers are going to be out of town any of the scheduled days of Thanksgiving break please remind them to communicate that information with Coach Andrews. The rule of thumb is if you are in town you need to be at practice.

Reminder of our Monday Schedule Changes-
Until Winter break we will have late practice on Monday nights.  We hope students take the opportunity to get homework done and enjoy some daylight on Mondays.  We ask that wrestlers are ready for team meeting on Mondays at 5:45 with practice clothes on in the team room.  We will be completing our Mindset training during this time, we are excited to develop our competitive mind alongside our bodies.  Following mindset training we will practice from 7-8:30 in the wrestling room.

Hydration Testing
In order to help identify a safe wrestling weight the State of Ohio requires our wrestlers to go through a process called Hydration testing.  In this process wrestlers must first have thier urine examined to make sure they are properly hydrated, if they are hydrated they next have their body fat assessed and thier weight recorded. This process will determine thier lowest wrestling weight and thier weight loss decent plan (how much they can lose per week).  If they do not pass they hydration testing component they will not measure thier weight or body fat.  They must complete this process prior to being allowed to compete.  Every year we have student athletes who fail this process, if they do not pass we will reassess on Tuesday Dec 3rd. All wrestlers must have the following forms completed prior to assessment. (Click Here for forms ).  If you have any questions about this process please don't hesitate to reach out to Coach Andrews 937.243.1911 shawn.andrews@mevsd.us

Ohio State vs Cornell Sunday Dec. 1st 2:00pm
Every year we take the opportunity to have our wrestlers go watch Ohio State compete.  This year they have moved into a state of the art wrestling facility known as the Covelli Center, and it is a truly amazing fan experience.  Unfortunately between our competition schedule and Ohio State's home competition schedule the only date that will work is Sunday Dec 1st 2:00pm vs Cornell.  All wrestlers are entitled to a free ticket purchased by our booster club, parents family members and friends can purchase additional tickets online at https://squareup.com/store/marysville-wrestling while supplies last.  Please make your decision to attend sooner in the week if possible.

Pay to Participate Fees
Wrestling fees have been posted to your students account please make sure that they are paid prior to the first competition.

ON THE HORIZON

First Competition Week

Our first competition is right around the corner. For week one all of our events are at home.  On Friday Dec 6th we will kick off the season with a dual meet vs Delaware Hayes.  On Saturday Dec. 7th we will host a Varsity Dual tournament in the Main gym and  a JV individual tournament in the field house.  It's great to compete in our home gym but these events require lots of help.  Look for emails from our booster for sign ups for concession stand help/tournament table help.

Have a great week!
