WEEKLY COMMUNICATION PLEASE READ!

Coach's Gratitude-
Hosting wrestling tournaments and events can be a daunting task, and it wouldn't be possible without the amazing support of countless volunteers.

Within in a 24 hour period we were able to .....

  • Host a dual meet on the stage in the auditorium (never been done before).
  • Run two seperate tournaments in the same building on the same day.
  • Hand out gear ordered to our High School and Middle School teams.

None of this would be possible without the help of an army of volunteers.  I know that if I try to name everyone I will inadvertently forget someone.  However I want to acknowledge the following.

  • Parents who worked concessions or tables at our tournaments
  • Luke Ahern and his performing arts students who helped with Friday's auditorium dual.
  • Terri Waller for organizing all of our wrestling stats and having them scheduled throughout the day.
  • Parents who took lots of pictures soon to be uploaded to social media
  • Delaware Hayes, Canal Winchester, Grove City, and Olentangy Liberty wrestling teams who loaned us  score clocks and mats for our event.
  • Wrestling Alum Aaron McKenzie who ran our JV tournament so our staff could focus on coaching
  • Wrestlers, parents and coaches who stay late to set up, clean up and do whatever is asked to help give our wrestlers the opportunity to compete in our home facility.

Finally wrestlers and families who supported each other throughout the weekend, thank you again for all of your support.

  • Wrestling Recap (Results)

The Varsity wrestling team opened thier weekend with a 1-4 record.  As a coach I think dual meets are more exciting than tournaments, but they are also less forgiving.  Giving up two-three forfeits in our current line up was difficult to overcome.  In two of our losses this weekend we split matches with our opponents 7-7 however the other teams bonus points were too much to overcome.

Individual Records for the weekend

Erryl Will 5-0
Zach McMinn 5-0
Christian McCartney 3-0

Wrestling Mom's Night Out

Our 2nd Annual mom's night out will be held Dec 10th.  This event is a great way to meet some of the other wrestling moms and learn a little more about wrestling and wrestling specific issues such as nutrition, hygiene etc.  Cost is $10 and includes dinner provided by Boston's and opportunity to win raffle prizes?;  tickets can be purchased at https://squareup.com/store/marysville-wrestling

How do Coaches decide who goes to what events?
With our team traveling to three different events this weekend it seems like an appropriate time do remind everyone how we decide who goes where from a competition standpoint.  There are a number of variables that go into determining our line up.  Our goal for your wrestlers is to have them be at the right level to gain the most number of matches at the appropriate level of competition.  We use observations in practice, results of competitions and wrestle offs to determine who goes where.  Our goal will be to publish who is wrestling where by the end of practice on Wednesday of this week.
