WEEKLY COMMUNICATION PLEASE READ!

Coach's Gratitude-
I have tried to shy away from acknowledging individuals in my weekly email as I know there are so many who do so much every week, by acknowledging one I know unintentionally omitting so many others. That being said there are a couple people who really helped out this past weekend.  Curtis and Robin Thompson have helped out all year with our girls wrestling schedule, Curtis has helped coach and Robin has been the official photographer and unofficial team mom. Their support helped get this season off the ground and set the foundation for future teams. The girls have shared several times how much their commitment has meant to them and I echo their sentiments.

Steve Scherer for stepping up to run our JV tournament this past weekend. Steve re-joined our program this year as a middle school coach. When the girls state tournament schedule came out I was concerned about our ability to run our JV tournament.  It is an important date on our schedule as we wrap up our JV schedule and our guys get to wrestle at home one last time. Having Steve available to run our tournament allowed our coaches to just coach, and our wrestlers to wrestle. Having a true “program” and not just a team is exemplified when people jump in to help. Thanks to our Varsity wrestlers for setting up, working tables all day, and  helping with tear down. Our program wouldn’t be what it is without all of your help.

Wrestling Recap
Girls State Tournament.
Our girls finished in 3rd place out of 99 teams at the first event finishing with 4 state placers.  Additionally all 9 of our girls one matches at this inaugural event helping our team to a top 3 finish. Like many wrestlers our girls, struggled with the finality of the season, looking backwards at what could of, should of or would have been.  In the end they represented our program, school and community with fight, integrity, and grace.
Individual Results
101 Madison Sharp 4th place (3-2 record on the weekend)
106 Emma Swart 2-2\
116 Laila Oribello 6th place 4-3 record on the weekend

Marysville JV Invite
The JV monarchs closed out their season in victorious fashion winning the end of the season JV invitational.  While unable to be there in person I was excited to follow along on baumspage keeping track of our wrestlers progress.  Additionally I was so proud of and happy for Andrew Howard, one gaining the opportunity to compete, two for competing hard, and three for the support our team gave Andrew.  Wrestling coaches are notorious for not being satisfied, always wanting a little more, one more point, one more win, one more kid on the team. I must say I was overcome with joy to hear the way in which Andrew was supported on Saturday.  It shined a light on the true things that matter, I am proud of our team and I hope that the sense of accomplishment Andrew has and the sense of pride our team have in Andrew can continue to spread among the team.

Post-season practice expecions for those not wrestling at the sectional
We will discuss today which wrestlers are needed for practice this week. There are two basic thought processes. One if you earned a varsity letter this year you are expected to be here all week. Two if  you do not fall in that category you choose to be at practice you are expected to give full effort. Those who can not meet that expectation or are distraction will be asked to leave.

Weekly Schedule
Monday  morning lift Practice 3:20-5:30
Tuesday 3:20-5:30
Wednesday morning lift Practice 3:20-5:30
Thursday Practice 3:20-5:30
Friday Practice 3:20-5:00 those not competing in the will set up mats starting at 3:30pm
