WEEKLY COMMUNICATION PLEASE READ!

It is hard to believe the final week of the season is upon us.

Coach's Gratitude-
I am grateful for the work our guys put in this year.  While I know several came up short of their goals, we wrestled really well on Saturday, there were times our guys could have folded or gave up but they kept fighting. We spent the last several weeks trying to understand the power of self-belief and where it comes from and I know we had guys who believed in themselves on Saturday.  I also appreciate the way these wrestlers fed off one another, seeing your teammate have success can serve as a catalyst for your own belief. I am hopeful that our efforts will only continue to maximize our self confidence. I am grateful for our seniors Garrett Seger and Joey Palmer who continue to find ways to lead by example, even if their competitive HS wrestling careers have come to a close.

Wrestling Recap
District Tournament
Our team finished in 8th place out of the 46 teams at the Hilliard Darby District.  The district tournament is full of emotional highs and lows and this weekend was no different. We had 10 wrestlers competing this weekend and most won matches, including six district placers, top 4 qualify for the state meet and 5th place serves as an alternate.

120- Lincoln Witt *unable to compete

126- Nate Thompson 5th Place (State Alternate)

132 - Josh Melms 6th Place

138 Lincoln Heard 4th Place (State Qualifier)

145 Jack Golla 5th Place (State Alternate)

152 Erryl Will 2nd Place (State Qualifier)

160 Colton Powers 6th Place

170 Christian McCartney 1-2

182 Ben Bickerstaff 1-2

220 Joey Palmer 0-2

285 Zach McMinn 2-2

Extremely proud of these guys, excited for this week with Lincoln and Erryl to have the opportunity to compete at the State Tournament.

State Tournament
I can not urge you enough to encourage your wrestler to attend the State wrestling tournament this weekend. For many, not all, the State tournament can be a target for their High School wrestling career. For those individuals I think attending the state tournament as a spectator can make it easier to visualize and imagine themselves in that environment.  Tickets are available at the door and the event schedule can be found here.
