The Monarch Wrestling team welcomed teams from all over the state to their home gym for the opening weekend of the season.  St Paris Graham and Springboro from the West/Southwest, Delta from the Northwest, Mentor from the Northeast, along with Teays Valley, Watkins Memorial and Delaware from the Central district.   The varsity competition was a dual format, with each team competing in four dual meets. The Monarchs won their opening two matches over Watkins Memorial and Teays Valley before falling in their last two verses Springboro and St. Paris Graham.

Walker Heard and Nate Thompson led the way with 4-0 records to start their season.  Logan Painter and Josh Melms each notched 3-1 records on the day. Jack Golla, Nate Francis, and Blayne Landon finished with 2-2 records.  There were several wrestlers who notched their first varsity wins this weekend, we need to focus on getting better each week, this week our varsity will be in a bracketed tournament at Sparta Highland with several area teams and will be a great indication of where we are as a team.

The JV team also wrestled in our home gym in Marysville JV Season Kickoff tournament. Team scores were not kept but the following Monarchs finished top 3 in their weight classes.
